What is a homestead exemption form for?
If you live in Texas, and own a home that is your primary residence, you are eligible for an exemption. Furthermore you have to have been living in the home January 1 of that tax year. The forms must be filed between Jauary 1 and April 30th. If you bought a home this year, Now is the time to file your exemptions. What Does it Cost to file?
There are several companies that offer a service that will file your exemption forms. This is a wonderful thing, however unless you just enjoy giving money away don't pay. IT IS FREE TO FILE! It is very simple to file. You can send via fax or snail mail.
